Dr. Mohamed Albashir is an American-Certified General Surgeon with expertise in breast surgery. He joined the Urgent Care Medical Center and Ain Al-khaleej Hospital in September of 2018. Prior to that, he was a consultant surgeon at Tawam Hospital from June 2007 till September 2018 and the director of the breast care center and chief of breast surgery from 2011 till March 2018. He was also the Co-Director of the General Surgery Residency Program from 2007-2010. Dr Bashir is an adjunct associate professor at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAEU.
As a Director of the breast care center at Tawam Hospital, the center received accreditation by the National Accreditation program for breast centers (NAPBC) in 2014, a program for accreditation of breast centers by the American College of Surgeons. It is the first international center to be accredited. The center was reaccredited in 2017.
Prior to 2007, he is worked at Jersey City Medical Center (New Jersey) and Maimonides Medical Center (New York). He was the Site-Director of the General Surgery Residency Program at Jersey City Medical Center. In addition, he was an assistant Professor at Mount Sinai School of Medicine (New York).
He received his B.S. degree with highest honors in Biochemistry from CUNY-Staten Island (New York) in 1992 and my MD degree from Down State Medical School (Brooklyn, New York) in 1996 and he completed his general surgery residency program at Downstate in 2001. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery in 2002 and was recertified in 2011.
He is a fellow of the American college of surgeons and a member of the American society of breast surgeons and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and a member of the International Relations Committee of the American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS) since 2016.
